The everyday reality
The bench is where a wrong report is born — usually from a blank text box.
When results are typed as free text on a Word template, every value depends on the technologist remembering the range and the doctor reading carefully. That is a thin defence for a clinical decision.
Free-text results, no structure
Each report is a document someone retypes. Units drift, ranges are copied from an old file, and nothing can be searched or trended later.
Reference ranges live in people’s heads
A child’s normal is not an adult’s, and a woman’s is not a man’s. When the range is not on screen, the wrong one gets printed.
Nobody knows what is still pending
Yesterday’s sample sits behind today’s pile. The lab only finds out it was missed when the patient calls.
Reports go out unverified
Under pressure a result is handed over before the pathologist has seen it — and there is no record of who released it.
The solution — BioMedixAI
Built around the analyte, not around a Word file.
Every test carries its own result fields, units and reference ranges, so the technologist enters values and the system does the judging.
One tidy row per analyte
Result, live normal/high/low flag, the reference range and the unit — all on one line. Numeric values are compared to the range, picklists to their expected value.
Age- and sex-aware ranges
Each field can carry several reference bands — by age window and by sex — and the right one is picked for the patient in front of you, including paediatric ranges.
A bench list that tells the truth
Defaults to today’s undone work, filters by department and collection date, and warns you when older samples are still pending.
Verification before release
Results are entered by the technologist and signed off by the pathologist or radiologist. The record always shows who entered and who verified.
Clean, correct report PDFs
Abnormal rows are highlighted, multiple tests combine into one report, and printing works with your pre-printed letterhead or with the digital one.
Sample identity end to end
Printable sample labels and a status trail from collection to verified result, so a tube is never guessed at.
Why BioMedixAI
Why a structured LIS beats a template folder.
Ready-made templates for 800+ tests
Result fields, units and ranges come pre-authored for the whole master catalogue, so a new lab is not building forms for a month.
The range is never fabricated
Where a range genuinely depends on the assay or kit, the field is left blank for your lab to fill in rather than filled with a plausible-looking number.
Corrections stay honest
An amended result keeps the original in the record, so a query months later can be answered with the full history.
Edit a range for one report — or for the lab
A one-off range or unit change applies to that report only, unless someone senior chooses to make it the lab default.
Radiology and histopathology too
Narrative reporting for imaging, cultures and histopathology sits alongside numeric analytes in the same workflow.
Fits into a bigger system when needed
The same lab module serves a standalone lab, a diagnostic centre and a hospital ward — the difference is only which modules you switch on.
FAQ
What lab in-charges ask us.
What is lab management software (LIS)?
A laboratory information system records the whole life of a test — the sample, who collected it, the structured result values with their units and reference ranges, the flagging of abnormal values, the verification by a pathologist, and the final report. BioMedixAI provides all of this and connects it to the reception, billing and report delivery around it.
Do we have to build result templates for every test?
No. Result templates are already authored for the master catalogue of 800+ tests, and they flow into your lab when you add a test. You can edit any of them, and an updated master template can be applied to existing tests without overwriting ones you have customised.
Does it handle different reference ranges for children and adults?
Yes. Each numeric field can carry several reference rows, each with an optional age window and sex. The system resolves the correct row for the patient, and if the patient’s age is unknown it falls back to the all-ages row.
Can a technologist release a report without the pathologist?
That is controlled by role. Entry and verification are separate steps, and the report records who entered the result and who verified it, so accountability is preserved either way.
Can we print on our existing letterhead pads?
Yes. Reports can print with the digital letterhead or with the header switched off and a blank top margin sized for your pre-printed pad.
Does it support radiology and histopathology reporting?
Yes. Narrative reporting for imaging, cultures and histopathology is supported alongside numeric results, and imaging has its own reporting queue.
